It remains an important method for checking leakage and confirming flue performance.
How Smoke Testing Works
We seal the chimney at the top and bottom.
Non-toxic smoke is introduced into the flue.
We then inspect for smoke leakage in:
- Rooms above fireplaces
- Loft spaces
- Adjacent rooms
- Shared chimney structures
- Neighbouring properties where relevant
We also inspect externally to ensure smoke exits correctly from the terminal.
