Flue Check — Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all chimney sweeping, flue maintenance, inspection, and gas services (“Services”) provided by Flue Check (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the client (“you”, “your”). By booking, ordering, or accepting any Services from Flue Check, you agree to these Terms.

2. Services Provided

2.1 Chimney & Flue Services

  • Chimney sweeping

  • Flue and appliance inspection

  • Smoke testing

  • CCTV flue inspection and reports

  • Advice on maintenance, safety, and efficiency

  • Removal of soot, debris, and bird nests (where safe and permitted)

2.2 Gas Services

  • Gas appliance servicing

  • Gas safety inspections

  • Boiler servicing, repair, and installation

  • Cookers, fires, and stoves: installation, servicing, and repair

  • Landlord Gas Safety Certificates (CP12)

  • Gas leak investigation

  • Ventilation and flue checks

2.3 Limitations

Services are carried out strictly as maintenance and safety procedures.
They are not a full structural survey of the chimney, appliance, or property unless explicitly stated.


3. Client Responsibilities

3.1 Access & Preparation

You agree to:

  • Provide safe, clear access to the appliance, flue, and working area

  • Move furniture, belongings, ornaments, or breakables before we arrive

  • Ensure pets and children are kept away from the work area

  • Ensure the appliance is not lit for at least 24 hours before sweeping

3.2 Appliance Condition

If the appliance or chimney is unsafe, damaged, poorly installed, or presents a risk, we may:

  • Stop work immediately

  • Mark the appliance as unsafe

  • Issue a warning or Do Not Use notice

  • Refuse to reconnect or service the appliance

This may be a legal requirement under Gas Safe regulations where gas is involved.


4. Pricing & Payment

4.1 Pricing

Prices will be quoted before work begins.
Additional charges may apply for:

  • Blocked flues

  • Bird nest removal

  • Replacement parts

  • Extra time due to unsafe conditions

  • Emergency call-outs

4.2 Payment Terms

Payment is due:

  • Immediately upon completion of work, unless otherwise agreed in writing

  • By cash or bank transfer

4.3 Late Payments

Unpaid invoices may incur:

  • Administration fees

  • Statutory interest

  • Suspension of services


5. Cancellations & Missed Appointments

5.1 Cancellation by You

  • 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a £40 call-out charge

5.2 Cancellation by Us

We may cancel or reschedule due to:

  • Unsafe working conditions (a £40 call-out fee applies)

  • Poor weather affecting safety

  • Illness or emergency

  • Equipment failure

We will provide reasonable notice where possible.


6. Safety & Liability

6.1 Safety Standards

All work is carried out with skill and care in accordance with:

  • Industry standards

  • Gas Safe regulations

  • Sweep Safe guidelines (if applicable)

6.2 Liability Limits

We are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing faults or poor installation

  • Damage caused by old, fragile, or deteriorating materials

  • Chimney liners collapsing due to unseen defects

  • Failed cowls or terminals that fall off during sweeping

  • Mess from excessive soot, tar, nests, or structural issues

  • Damage caused by lack of maintenance

We work cleanly, but zero soot exposure cannot be guaranteed if the flue is heavily blocked.

6.3 Structural & Hidden Defects

Chimney sweeping does not reveal all structural defects.
If we identify issues, we will inform you and may recommend further investigation.


7. Certificates & Reports

We provide certificates for:

  • Chimney sweeping

  • Gas safety checks (CP12)

  • Gas appliance servicing

Certificates confirm work carried out.
They do not guarantee future performance or safety if the system is misused or not maintained.


8. Warranty

8.1 Labour Warranty

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
This warranty does not cover:

  • Pre-existing issues

  • Poor maintenance

  • Damage caused after our visit

8.2 Parts Warranty

Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty only.


9. Complaints Procedure

If you are unhappy for any reason:

We aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly.


10. Data Protection & Privacy

We collect essential information only:

  • Name

  • Address

  • Contact details

  • Email address

  • Job history

We do not sell or share your data except where required for legal, safety, or compliance purposes.


11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be resolved by mediation or through the UK court system.


12. Acceptance of Terms

By booking or accepting a service from Flue Check, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
